Mr. Long Island.

It's a sad day when it's no longer safe for a mother to send her son to college....

-Quote from a NC A&T Student-

Dennis Stuart Hayle's Facebook status was "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." Tom Hanks and Mr. Long Island a.k.a. Mr. Hayle couldn't have said it better. In a time where the ENTIRE country is vying for change our youth still embrace guns with their trigger fingers taking the lives of the innocent. When does it stop?

I remember a chubby boy with the BIGGEST dimples and the widest smile. The short walk from the bus stop to our homes, teasing and laughter in the air. Dennis was one of the few who believed in me. We weren't ridiculously tight, just band and class mates, saying the occasional hello and sharing small talk on the way home. However, for some reason Dennis made it his obligation to ask me if i was still writing from time to time. He reiterated how important it was to not let my peers discourage me from something I loved with all my heart.

Just eleven days ago Dennis was still making sure i was on top of my game. We all get the occasional Facebook messages and phone calls from our high school friends who we figure we have all the time in the world to catch up on. Don't take anyone for granted. Not even those you mildly associate with. Everyone has a significance in your life.

"The News & Record of Greensboro reported that the body of Dennis Hayle, 22, of Hempstead, was found Sunday in a corridor at his apartment building near his school North Carolina A&T State University"

Dennis was an Omega Psi Phi, Political Science Major Senior at NC A&T. He had Aggie, Knight, Cougar, Trojan, Omega, and Long Island Pride, and repped to the fullest. Hey BRUH! We'll always remember you.
